Step into my creative nest
Behind illustrations
My name is Urška, and I am the illustrator behind the brand Kos Urške. Creativity and artistic expression have always been my first language. Even before I could walk or talk, I was dancing and singing, and as soon as I could hold a pencil, I began to draw.
As far back as I can remember, illustration has held a special place in my life, allowing me to distance myself from reality and enter my imaginary world. For me, illustration has always been, and will continue to be, the most important way to communicate with the world around me. It enables me to express my perspective, especially since I sometimes find it difficult to articulate my thoughts with words.
I am an illustrator and animator from Slovenia, a small country in Europe. In 2021, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Graphic and Media Technology from the University of Ljubljana. Since then, I have been working as a Motion Graphic Designer at a marketing agency called Pristop d.o.o.
In my free time, I enjoy exploring my creativity without boundaries, discovering various themes, and illustrating my interpretations of them.
Like many young artists, I went through several stages in my illustration process. I started by copying artists like Michelangelo to learn anatomy, and then I moved on to children's book illustration. Now, as I've grown older, I find myself wanting to create illustrations that are less colorful and bright, focusing instead on more conceptual and toned-down creations.
I would describe my latest style as classic, characterized by numerous brush and pencil strokes, as well as rich textures. This approach allows me to maintain consistency across both traditional and digital mediums. Currently, I enjoy using muted colors that harmonize well in any space, creating a calming atmosphere.
